Day by day

  1. 1

    How committee works

What Model UN is, roles in the room, roll call, the speakers’ list, and the formal register. Every student speaks in the first hour, and countries are assigned for the week.

  2. 2

    Procedure in practice

Moderated and unmoderated caucus, the motions that open them, and the points a delegate can raise, drilled in short practice rounds until they are automatic.

  3. 3

    Research and the position paper

Finding a country’s real record with UN voting data and official statements, then turning it into a one-page position paper. Papers are submitted before the holiday break.

  4. 4

    Speeches

Opening speeches built on a hook, policy, and proposal skeleton, delivered on the clock and reworked with coach feedback. Returning to written position papers with comments.

  5. 5

    Blocs and clauses

Caucusing with purpose, forming blocs, and drafting preambulatory and operative clauses into a working paper, with amendments taught through live examples.

  6. 6

    Full mock committee

A complete simulated committee from roll call to voting procedure, chaired by a coach. Each student receives written feedback and a recommended next step on the course ladder.

Why a winter camp works

Many school conferences run between January and April. A short course over the break means a new delegate walks into their first committee knowing the procedure and holding a finished position paper, and a first-year delegate gets reps and feedback before the conferences that count. Two hours a day leaves the rest of the holiday free.

Winter camp questions

When is the Model UN winter camp?+

December 21 to 30, 2026: six 2-hour classes on the Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday of each week (December 21, 22, 23, 28, 29, and 30). There are no classes on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year’s Eve, or New Year’s Day.

How much does it cost?+

Tuition is $384 for enrollments paid by the end of November 15 (US Eastern) and $480 after that. It covers 12 hours of live small-group teaching, a position-paper review, the final mock committee, and written feedback with a placement recommendation.

What time are the classes?+

Each student picks one of three options. Option A is 1–3 PM Eastern (10 AM–12 PM Pacific). Option B is 9–11 AM Eastern, which is 6–8 PM in Dubai and 2–4 PM in London. Option C is 1–3 PM in Dubai, which is 5–7 PM in Singapore and Hong Kong. The schedule on this page converts every option to your timezone.

Is the camp online or in person?+

Fully online and fully live, in small groups of 6 to 10 students split into a Middle School track (ages 10–13) and a High School track (ages 14–17).

Does my child need Model UN experience?+

No. The camp starts from how a committee runs and ends with every student competing in a full mock committee. Students with one or two conferences behind them also fit, because the feedback is individual.

Is there a Model UN summer camp?+

A summer Model UN academy is planned for summer 2027. Dates and pricing are not set yet; send us a message through the contact page and we will email you when enrollment opens.
